Activities & Attractions: Svalbard Polar Travel can tailor and organize course and conferences on the peaceful Kapp Linné. There, at the mouth of the sea, you can live in comfortable surroundings, far away from civilization.
The only overnight accomodations outside Svalbard's housing developments, is located on Kapp Linné. Isfjord Radio Station has pleasant rooms, sheltered living and dining rooms and an exciting histroy. Isfjord Radio is the center point of telecommunication between Svalbard and the mainland. For many years, the station was manned year round, by people who ensured the maintenance of the technical equipment. Now, the station is automated, but travellers and settlers can still visit this tiny place out against the open ocean. Birdlife on Kapp Linné is overwhelming during the summer. Eider ducks hatch right up to the steps of the station, and the swamp area behind the houses are preserved as a bird conservatory. Even the flora is plentiful and the reindeer graze out on the plains. During the summer, you can take a boat to Kapp Linné.
During the winter, the combination of ocean, ice and mountain makes Kapp Linné a tempting destination. It is very special to walk along the ocean and see the drifting ice and all the ice formations. Polar bears are often strolling along the water, and in the spring time, the seabirds arrive in hoards. It is a beautiful ride to Kapp Linné from Longyearbyen by snow scooter. Dog-sleds can also be arranged at Kapp Linné. Courses, meetings, conferences for groups of 10-20 can be arranged at Kapp Linné, which has modern technical equipment and an excellent kitchen. Kapp Linné has 40 beds divided into single and double rooms. Contact the hotel for more information.
