Norway's most visited attraction with over 1 million visitors every year. One of the worlds most impressive collection of statues. Norway's most famous sculptor Gustav Vigeland has over 180 thematic works displayed on the grounds of the 32-hectare (79-acre) Frogner Park. The statues are made in bronze, granite and wrought-iron. Do not miss the 18-meter-high/470-ton monolith with 121 figures depicting the ”cycle of life”. Another popular sculpture is Sinnataggen - an enraged baby boy stamping his foot in fury. Also visit the Vigeland Museum adjacent to the park which was the artist's studio during the 1920s.
Getting there: From downtown Oslo: Take the subway or tram to Majorstuen and walk for five minutes down the Kirkeveien street to the park entrance. The museum is at the southern end of the park, a 5 minutes walk from the main entrance of the park. |
