Lillehammer Olympic Park includes the Olympic Venues in Lillehammer Municipality, built for the Olympic Winter Games in 1994: Håkons Hall, Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena, Birkebeineren Ski Stadium, Kanthaugen Freestyle Arena and Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track.
In Håkons Hall there are sports facilities for handball, football, volleyball, badminton, squash, fitness training, indoor climbing and golf. The Norwegian Olympic Museum is also situated in Håkons Hall.
In Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena you can take the Chairlift to the top of the big ski jump, and from the Ski Jump Tower you have a magnificent view.
At the Birkebeineren Ski Stadium there is a floodlit 5 km track during winter, and in the summer this is a great area for walking and biking.
In Kanthaugen Freestyle Arena you can try tobogganing during winter, which many consider to be the winter activity in Lillehammer that is the most fun.
In the Bobsleigh and Luge Track you can try bobsleighing or bob rafting during winter, and in the summer you can try the unique bobsleigh on wheels. |
